THE LATEST UPDATE FROM GRANT AVENUE

June 5th, 2020
We are reopening church on June 14th! After prayerful consideration and remaining faithful to the government guidance, we will have four services each Sunday. You can see our entire reopening plan here.

Our desire is to hold outdoor services beginning July 5th. We will have church outdoors for 8 weeks this summer.

Church Family,

Out of respect for the government and love for our neighbors we will be cancelling all church gatherings. We will keep you updated about reopening.

During this time we are committed to ministering to one another.

1. We will still have an online service each week. We encourage you to take advantage of at home worship resources we have on our website.  We want to be a blessing to you at your home but also do not want you to be dependent on a computer screen for worship and encouragement.

2. We will continue to contact all senior adults in our church and check in on them.

3. We will continue to pray for our church family, community, country and world as people struggle during this difficult time.

4. We will use the internet, specifically social media, to encourage spiritual, loving connection. We do not believe that social media is normally a replacement for in person contact, but we do believe it can be a positive tool during this time.

5. We encourage each of you to connect with one another and minster to each other during this time.

March 13, 2020
Church Family,
After much prayer and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our church services on March 15th and 22nd. While we are not obligated to close at this time, the love of Christ compels us to do the right thing to help protect our congregation and our community. The elderly are particularly vulnerable at this time and we believe it is important for our church to respond appropriately in protecting and serving them. This decision is not made out of fear but love for our neighbors.
What this means:
This will include all church activity for the next two weeks. There will be no midweek gatherings at church during this time. We will leave small group gatherings up to each small group. The church office will remain open, Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm. Your staff will continue to work as normal. During this two week period we will do a complete disinfection of the entire church so that things are clean and ready for our return to normal services.
What you can do:
1. We will still gather this Sunday – but it will happen through a live stream. This Sunday at 11am you can find us on our Facebook page or our website (www.grantavebc.org). Our worship team will lead us in songs like we normally do. Pastor Bryan will share a message. We encourage all of you to be present in the virtual world this Sunday as we gather from our various living rooms.
2. We will have children’s activities for your kids to do at home. Check our website in the coming days for resources
3. Share Jesus with the community. This is an unprecedented time with incredible opportunity to share the hope we have in Jesus with our neighbors, coworkers and family. Be faithful in looking for opportunities to engage in gospel conversation with those around you.
4. Pray. Pray for our church family, community, nation and world. There are many who are affected by the Corona virus including patients, medical professionals, families scrambling for childcare and even the loss of jobs.
5. Serve the vulnerable. If you are a senior adult and need assistance with grocery shopping or errands being run – let us know! You can email pastor Bryan directly at bryan@grantavebc.org. We are ready to serve!
6. Giving: While we will not gather for the next two Sundays our church will still operate and will continue to support our missionaries around the world. Grant Avenue continues to impact the community in amazing ways through this church body and your giving is a vital part in fueling what God is doing through this church family. If you haven’t already, check out our online giving tab in the app or on our website.
We do not know what the future holds but we are choosing to trust in Christ as we move forward. We will keep you updated of any other changes in the future.
“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
